How are problem behaviors resolved?

First through behavioral analysis we determine why a particular behavior is continuing to occur. Then we resolve it through a combination of management solutions and the training of alternative (incompatible) behaviors. For instance, to help resolve a jumping problem, we may use a leash or crate to prevent giving the dog the opportunity to practice jumping and in the meantime we may train the dog to sit on a mat when new people enter the home.

At Right on Cue Dog Training, we focus on what we want the dog TO do, rather than what we want the dog not to do.

Some problem behaviors are the symptom of an underlying fear or anxiety problem and these behaviors may not be able to be completely resolved with just training- in these situations we will refer you to a veterinary behaviorist who will be able to treat the underlying problem and recommend an appropriate training method for your dog.
